Featured Blu-ray / DVD Review: Thor
September 16th, 2011
Thor helped kick off summer on a adept annotation, opening with $65 million and finishing its run with over $180 million domestically and nearly $450 million worldwide. Notwithstanding, while it was a hitting at the box role and earned overwhelmingly positive reviews, there were some who really didn't like the film. The combination of the opulence of Asgard and the more than mundane parts we saw on World led some critics to mutter information technology was ii films badly stitched together. Will this exist a problem for me? Volition one office be stiff plenty to compensate for the weak parts? Or volition I enjoy the entire pic? More...

Unfortunately, neither of the screeners have arrived all the same, then it is difficult to tell if they are option of the week material. I figured Star Wars would easily take that honor, but the changes made have pissed off enough people that I think information technology's best that I hold off making a judgment till afterward it arrives. After spending manner too long trying to pick between the two, I'm going with Degrassi: Season Ten, Part Ii instead. More...

Weekend Wrap-Up: A Memorial 24-hour interval To Retrieve?
May 31st, 2011
Records were broken on Memorial Day long weekend, which makes the weekend one to remember. Ironic then that the biggest hit of the weekend was a film well-nigh people who tin can't remember the night before. Yes, The Hangover 2 hands took pinnacle spot, while Kung Fu Panda 2 was disappointingly far behind. On the other mitt, it still earned more than terminal year's number one film, Shrek Forever After, so it at least pulled its weight. Overall, the 3-24-hour interval box office was a very healthy $223 1000000, or 33% more than concluding weekend and 47% more than the aforementioned weekend terminal yr. Weekend Predictions: Two past Ii
May 26th, 2011
It'southward Memorial 24-hour interval long weekend, which is ane of the virtually important weekends of the yr. Non only is information technology i of the most lucrative, but it can help ready the tone for the rest of summer. 30 million people going to theaters, each seeing countless posters, trailers, etc. for upcoming releases is a boon for the marketing for those film. This is why when both new releases failed to make an impact concluding year, it was such a devastating result. This time around, there are two sequels opening, Kung Fu Panda 2 and The Hangover 2, both of which should earn more individually than Sexual activity and the City two and Prince of Persia earned combined. There's a slim chance ane will dominate the other, only in that case, the overall box office should still be a large footstep up from last year. But the best instance scenario has both of them condign monster hits, and that would have a positive effect on the balance of the box part for weeks to come. More...

May 19th, 2011
Not to put as well fine a betoken on information technology, but then far 2011 has been a terrible twelvemonth at the box office. Granted, the past month or and then have been better, only if nosotros were to extrapolate the total box office based on how we've washed and so far, we'd take the worst year in a decade in terms of dollars, and fashion longer than that in terms of tickets sold. This really should modify this weekend with the release of On Stranger Tides, which should earn more than Shrek Forever Afterwards, terminal year'south number ane motion-picture show, with relative ease. Hopefully next weekend things will plow effectually.
Thor has to deal with directly contest and the Fanboy Effect this weekend. On the positive side, it also has potent reviews and neither of the new films are expected to be monster hits.
